Peter Blangé

Peter Blangé ( born December 9, 1964 in Voorburg ) is a Dutch former volleyball player. He was one of the world's best setter of the 1990s.

Peter Blangé began with the volleyball with their home club Star Lift Voorburg. In 1988 he moved to the top of Club Martinus Amstelveen. Here he became Dutch Champion twice under coach Arie Selinger and won twice third place in the European Champions Cup. In 1990, the setter in the Italian league. He first played one season at Pallavolo Catania and from 1991 at the top club Pallavolo Parma, with whom he was Italian Champion in 1992 and 1993, in 1992 won the Italian Cup and 1992 and 1995 the European CEV Cup. 1996/97 Peter Blangé played at Moers SC in the German Bundesliga. Then he went back to Italy again and was with Sisley Treviso twice in a row Italian Champion, won the 1998 again the CEV Cup and crowned his club career in 1999 by winning the Champions League. Then Peter Blangé played back in his home and was charged with Geové Vrevok Nieuwegein Dutch champion and cup winner as well as the end of his playing career in 2002 with Dynamo Apeldoorn Cup winner again.

Peter played Blangé 1984-2000 500 times for the Dutch national team and now holds the national record. He participated in four Olympic Games and won the silver medal in 1992 in Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta gold medal. Other highlights were winning the World League in 1996 and the victory at the European Championships in 1997 in their own country.

From 2004 to 2007 Peter Blangé was head coach at Dutch club Rotterdam Ortec Nesselande and has been here twice and three times Dutch Champion Cup winner. From 2006 to 2010 he was the coach of the Dutch Men's National Team.

2012 Peter Blangé was included in the "Volleyball Hall of Fame".
