Phil Bourque

Phillipe Richard Bourque ( born June 8, 1962 in Chelmsford, Massachusetts ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who played in his playing days from 1980 to 2000 among others for the Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers and Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League.

Career

Phil Bourque began his career as a hockey player with the Kingston Canadians, for until 1982 he was active from 1980 in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League. He subsequently received a contract in October 1982 as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Penguins. From 1982 to 1987 he played mainly for their farm team in Baltimore Skipjacks of the American Hockey League, while he was only sporadically for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League action. Also in the 1987/88 season he played mainly for the new farm team of the Penguins, the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the International Hockey League. In the IHL he could convince and was elected to the First All -Star team in the league. In addition, he received the Governor's Trophy as the best defender of the IHL. From the 1988/89 season the winger was able to win a regular place in the Penguins, with whom he for the seasons 1990/91 and 1991/92 respectively to the prestigious Stanley Cup won.

In the summer of 1992, Bourque signed a contract as a free agent with the New York Rangers, where he remained one and a half years before he was transferred to only use little time in his second year with the Rangers in March 1994 to the Ottawa Senators. Even with the Senators he could not convince completely, so he moved to the Detroit Vipers of the IHL during the 1995/96 season. The 1996/97 season he spent in their league rival Chicago Wolves. Both in Detroit, as well as in Chicago, he was able to convince, so that he was obliged to season 1997 /98 by the Star Bulls Rosenheim of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. His career finally settled from 1998 to 2000 finish at the German second division Crocodiles Hamburg.

Internationally

For the U.S., Bourque took part in the 1994 World Cup. In eight games, he prepared it in front of a gate.
