Philippe Samyn

Philippe Samyn ( born September 1, 1948 in Ghent, Belgium) is a Belgian architect and engineer, whose style is influenced by how generous glass, wood and steel structures.

Biographical Overview

Philippe Samyn has visited the school of his birthplace Ghent, before he moved with his family to Brussels. Already in his youth he was interested in architecture, science and technology.

He studied building construction at the Free University of Brussels (ULB ), and in 1971 he obtained his diploma at the Faculty of Building Construction. Subsequently he studied until 1973 Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and urban planning at the Free University of Brussels (ULB ) - both courses he finished with a master's degree. In addition, Philippe Samyn is a graduate of the Master of Business Administration ( MBA) from the Solvay Business School.

From 1972, Philippe Samyn was a consulting architect and engineer architectural and engineering firms active in different before he founded in 1980 Philippe Samyn and Partners. Him the doctorate of engineering science was awarded by the University of Liège in 1999.

  • Photos and movies at the Belgian Royal Humanities and Arts Academy Brussels

Philippe Samyn is Commander of the Order of Leopold and a member of the Royal Belgian Academy for Arts and Humanities. On 13 July 2012, he was honored by King Albert II to the knighthood.

The office is located in Orange Prince neighborhood south of Brussels and currently counts ( 2013), about fifty employees.
