Pokachi
Pokatschi (Russian Покачи ) is a town in western Siberia, in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District / Yugra (Russia) with 17,171 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located in the West Siberian lowland on the right bank of the Wat - Jegan, a tributary of the in turn opens into the Ob Agan. The climate is continental.
The city is located on the territory of Pokatschi Rajons Nizhnevartovsk, however, is the autonomous district under the direct authority.
Pokatschi is connected via a 70 km long road with Langepas where the nearest train station is located.
History
After 1970 in the settlement area of Chantenfamilie Pokatschow oil had been found, was built here in the 1978 started promoting now Pokatschow deposit ( Покачевское месторождение ) oil fields mentioned a temporary workers' settlement. In 1984, in 21 km distance to the construction of a new, permanent settlement, which was declared a town in 1992.
