Pol van Boekel
Paul Hendrikus Martinus "pole" van Boekel ( born September 19, 1975 in Vierlingsbeek, North Brabant) is a Dutch former professional footballer, who has worked as a referee in professional football since 2004.
Career as a player
Van Boekel was as A Teenager in the 1993/94 season at Telstar his debut in professional football. A few days before his 18th birthday, he was in the Eerste divisie in the away game at SBV Excelsior Velsener the substitute first time on 4 September 1993. Two other short assignments followed for the right -budgetary full-back this season, after their graduation, he moved to first division relegated VVV Venlo. Here he spent two years playing together with the one years older Gerald Sibon; 1996/97 he was in a defensive line with former international player John de Wolf. From the season 1997/98 he was part of the permanent staff of Venlo, arrived in this season on 31, in the following 32 operations. After the 1999/00 season, his contract was not renewed. Van Boekel changed after 129 inserts with eight goals in the Eerste divisie to JVC'31 in the highest amateur league, the Hoofdklasse. In the club from Cuijk he wanted to recommend for other professional stations, but soon realized that it would not succeed because the training level but too fell from the professional league. Career as a referee
Van Boekels 's father, Jos had been active as a referee in the professional area and also come as linesman internationally. Pol van Boekel had whistled already in his last time at VVV amateur games. He now made with the appropriate courses for ex- professionals in the KNVB, among others, together with Raymond Atteveld, but who moved into coaching specialist later. Van Boekel was on 14 May 2004 its official debut as a referee in professional football, as he led the match FC Dordrecht against TOP Oss the Eerste Divisie. Already in the 2005/06 season van Boekel rose to the A- list of the KNVB, his first regular first division was against RBC Roosendaal NEC. February 24, 2006 Since the beginning of 2008 he is FIFA referee; On 29 June 2008 he made his international debut for the UEFA, as he led the match between Iceland ÍF Fylkir and FK Riga from Latvia in the Intertoto Cup.
In the season 2011/12 he is regularly in the Eredivisie in use, led to the beginning of the season playing for the Johan Cruijff Schaal between FC Twente and Ajax AFC and was referee of the Cup Finals between PSV and Heracles Almelo. He also came into this season for the first time in the Champions League qualifier used and managed the European Championship qualifier between Malta and Georgia.
He had never had a referee role model, he said in an interview in 2011. Among his active at this time colleagues he liked best the kind of Howard Webb, he stated.
Private
Full-time work van Boekel permitted by the KNVB for A- list arbitrators 24 hours a week as a loan consultant at Rabobank. He lives with his family in Venray.
