Pole (musician)

Pole aka Stefan Betke ( born February 18, 1967 in Dusseldorf ) is a German dub- techno musician, music producer, mastering engineer and label owner.

Life and career

Stefan Betke was born in 1967 in Dusseldorf, where he also grew up. He played in various bands and Keyboard Synthesizer.

The mid-1990s discovered the then living in Cologne musicians at work with a defective Waldorf 4- pole analog filter a characteristic crackling, which he used as the basis for the production of the first pieces of music.

In 1996, Betke to Berlin, where he produced more music tracks and when mastering engineer worked at dubplates & mastering. Its simple one -titled album was released in 1998 on Kiff SM and received good to very good reviews. 1999 and 2000 appeared the following records, the Series 2 and 3 Later, the remix album was released with R Betkes own variations as well as remixes from Kit Clayton and Burnt Friedman.

In 1999, Betke, together with Barbara Preisinger the label ~ scape, published on the addition to its own publications as poles, among others Jan Jelinek, Deadbeat, Kit Clayton, Safety Scissors, John Tejada and Mapstation. In the same year Betke dubplates & mastering left and founded his own mastering studio Scape Mastering.

In 2003 he was the self-titled album poles on mute. Before Betke 2008, his first albums scape re-released as a compilation 1 2 3 ~, was released in 2007 the album rock garden.

In 2011, Betke founded with poles another label, on the next re-releases of previous pole works a new forest stories titled series of 12 "was released.

Live Betke came on as a Pole, among others in London's Fabric, Berlin's Watergate and in New York's The Bunker.
