Pretin is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Pretin is at 366 m above sea level. M., west of Salins- les- Bains and about 31 km southeast of the city of Dole (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in a closed basin at the Bach Vache, at the foot of the heights of the first Jura plateau.

The area of ​​5.44 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area occupied by the basin of Pretin, which has a diameter of approximately one kilometer. History

Several findings, including Greek pottery fragments, indicate that the municipality area of ​​Pretin been inhabited since prehistoric times and during the Gallo- Roman period. On the hill of Château was during the Iron Age, an oppidum.

In the 9th century the priory of Notre- Dame de Château- sur -Salins was founded, which was dependent on the Abbey of Gigny and later by the chapter of Saint- Maurice at first and was destroyed during the French Revolution.
