Priit Narusk

Priit Narusk ( born December 8, 1977 in Võru ) is a former Estonian cross-country skier and biathlete.

Life and career

His first international assignment had Narusk 1999 at the World Cup in the domestic Otepaeae. Classic About 15, he finished 48th. Although he was able to win only results outside the World Cup points in the following years, he was nominated for at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. His best result here was the 38th place in the sprint competition. In the following season, he finished in 25th place at the World Cup in Oberhof over a distance of 15 km classic and thus secured his first World Cup points. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2003, he managed a place in the finals in the sprint competition. In the final, he finished in 25th place. For connection of the season, he managed the sprint World Cup in Borlänge to improve on this with number 16. His performance stabilized in the 2004/05 season, so he could be placed in sprint competitions in the points regularly. At the World Cup in Reit im Winkl he managed for the first time to make it into the top ten. He also managed to confirm these services, where he finished 16th in the sprint at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberhof. Together with Erki Jallai he reached the 12th place in the team sprint.

At the Olympic Winter Games 2006 in Turin, however, he failed to qualify for the finals. Together with anti Saarepuu he won the 14th place in the team sprint. At the end of the season he managed the World Cup in Changchun ninth place his best career result. In the overall standings of the Sprint Cup, he finished 21st place in this season. In the season 2006/07 improved Narusks results for distance competitions, but he could not, however, build on the achievements of previous years in the sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo, although he reached the finals in the sprint competition, but at the end is only the 29th place. Over 50 kilometers of classic he was 28, the start of the 2008/09 season he was able to occupy the 19th place in the sprint in Kuusamo. However, this remained his only result in the top 30 athletes of a World Cup competition this season. Nevertheless, he was nominated for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec. When 46 he missed, however, there also qualified for the finals in the sprint competition.

After the Estonian Ski Association in 2009 had set the financial support for older athletes of the B- squad and also allows them to only two starts in World Cup competitions, Narusk joined the 2009/10 season to biathlon. Even at the Military World Championships 2004 in Östersund Narusk had first attended an international patrol run. In the summer he took in Oberhof part in the Summer Biathlon World Championships in 2009 and was 41 in Cross -Country Sprint. His first winter conditions had the Este in the first race of the IBU Cup in Idre, where he was in the sprint Apply 69 and 62. In the World Cup he gave in January 2010 in Oberhof as part of a relay race his debut after he won the bronze medal at the Estonian championship behind Roland Lessing and Indrek Tobreluts a week earlier. With his team-mates he was 14 and joined two days later in a sprint race for the first time in a single race of the World Cup on. In difficult conditions, he won three penalties as 33 immediately first World Cup points. However, with this success, he was not able to build and placed usually far out of World Cup points. And also hoped to qualify for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games he failed. Also in the 2010/11 season he did not make it into the top 40 athletes of a single competition. Nevertheless, he was nominated for the Biathlon World Championships in 2011 and finished in the sprint competition 77th. In March 2011 Narusk announced his retirement from competitive sport.
