Prince August of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha

August Ludwig Viktor of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha ( born June 13, 1818 in Vienna, † July 26, 1881 at Ebenthal Castle in Lower Austria ) was a prince of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha from the Catholic side line Koháry and royal Saxon Major General.

Life

August was born as the second son of Prince Ferdinand of Saxe- Coburg- Saalfeld- Koháry (1785-1851) and his wife, the Hungarian Princess Antonie von Koháry ( 1797-1862 ). He was brother of King Ferdinand II of Portugal, also the father of the Bulgarian king Ferdinand I.

Prince August married on April 20, 1843 in Saint-Cloud Castle Princess Clementine of Bourbon- Orléans ( 1817-1907 ), daughter of the "citizen king " Louis Philippe of France.
