Radu Troi

Radu Troi ( born June 12, 1949 in Dragomireşti, Giurgiu County ) is a former Romanian football player. He played 179 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A.

Career as a player

Troi began playing football at UREMOAS Bucharest and moved in 1969 to the Romanian giants Dinamo Bucharest. There he was indeed the first team squad in Divizia A, but did not play. Over the 1970/71 season he left the club and joined the Divizia B Metalul Bucharest. There he became the starting players. He managed the club at this time not to ascend to the Divizia A. However, he reached the semi-finals of the Romanian Cup in both 1970/ 71 and a year later with Metalul.

In 1972, Troi made ​​a fresh attempt to gain a foothold in the Premier League, and joined the reigning champions FC Arges Pitesti. There he made ​​his breakthrough. Although he did not fall as a striker by high Torquoten, but was nevertheless an integral part of the team and became a national player. In his first season he played with Arges in Europe Champions Cup and reached the second round, where he Spanish champions Real Madrid brought his team to a victory in the first leg of a defeat, but resigned. In the league, his club finished third and qualified for the UEFA Cup, survived there but not the first round.

After the FC Arges had slipped in the following years into midfield Divizia A, Troi moved in 1975 to league rivals Steaua Bucharest. With the record champion he won in 1976 with the double of league and cup his first title. In contrast to his previous positions, he had to prevail against strong competition at Steaua and regularly had to fight for his regular place. According to the vice championship in 1977 behind Dinamo Bucharest followed at the end of the season 1977/78 his second championship.

In 1979, Troi ended his career.

National

Troi played 16 games for the Romanian national football team, scoring three goals. He made his debut on 18 April 1973 at the friendly game against the Soviet Union. Under coach Valentin Stănescu he belonged to the extended squad, but came infrequently used. Stanescu's successor Ştefan Kovács not built at the beginning of 1976, initially to him, took him in the autumn of the same year but back again. Troi came here mostly in friendlies used and played for the last time on September 21, 1977 in a 6-1 victory against Greece for his country.

Career as a coach

After the end of his active career Troi worked as a youth coach of his former club Steaua Bucharest. From 1986 to 1988 he was under Anghel Iordănescu assistant coach of the first team.
