Rafael Guijosa

Rafael Guijosa Castillo ( born January 31, 1969 in Alcalá de Henares, Spain ) is a Spanish handball coach and former handball player who was elected World Handball Player of the Year in 1999.

The 1.82 m wide and 75 kg Guijosa came in 1989 from CD Iplacea to BM Guadalajara in the league ASOBAL. In 1993 he moved to Juventud Madrid Alcalá from his home district. With the club he reached 1994, the final of the Copa del Rey and played in the 1994/95 season with the people of Madrid in the European Cup Winners' Cup before the end of the season his transfer to FC Barcelona Cifec took place, in which he held until his retirement in late 2002 when was active and with whom he won numerous titles, including five by the EHF Champions League.

For the Spanish national handball team, he played a total of 119 matches in which he scored 538 goals. The left winger was among other second- top scorer in the World Cup 1999.

As a coach, he was responsible for the Spanish team BM and BM Alcobendas Toledo as well as the Iranian national team, so at the World Handball Asian Cup 2014.
