Raphaël Pujazon

Raphaël Pujazon ( born February 18, 1918 in El Campillo in the Spanish province of Huelva, † February 23, 2000 in Alès ) was a French athlete. The 1.75 m wide and its competition time 61 kg heavy runners was 1946 European Champion in the steeplechase.

From 1939 to 1950 Pujazon approached at 18 events for the French national team. He was French champion in 5000 -meter run in 1941, 1942, 1944 and 1946, in 1944 he won the title in the 1500 meter run, 1948 steeplechase. A further six league titles he won from 1944 to 1949 in cross-country running.

At the European Championships 1946 in Oslo, he won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a French record of 9:01,4 minutes. He had it about ten seconds ahead of the two Swedes Erik Sjöstrand Elmsäter and gates. In the 5000 -meter run Pujazon finished in eighth place in Oslo 14:46,8 minutes.

1946 and 1947 won Pujazon also the Cross of Nations, the forerunner competition of the Cross World Championships. In 1948, he reached at the Olympic Games in London, the final in the steeplechase, the race but did not finish.
