Rat Islands

The Islands Council ( German " rats islands" ) are a group of islands of the Aleutian Islands in the U.S. state of Alaska. They are between Buldir Iceland and the Near Islands in the west and the Amchitka Pass and the Andreanof Islands to the east. The largest islands of the group are from west to east: Kiska, Little Kiska, Segula, Council of Iceland or Kryssei, Khvostof, Davidof, Little Sitkin, Amchitka and Semisopochnoi. The total land area of uninhabited Islands Council is 934.594 km ². The islands are among other breeding colonies of Bartalken, the smallest after Zwergalk Auk.

The name of the Council of Iceland is the English translation of the name Captain Fyodor Petrovich Liitke the island group had been in 1827, when he visited on his trip around the world, the Aleutian Islands.
