Rebeuvelier

Rebeuvelier is a municipality in the district Delémont the canton of Jura in Switzerland. The former German name Rippert Wiler is no longer used today. Not to be confused with the Bernese community Rebévelier.

Geography

The farming village Rebeuvelier is located on 664 m above sea. M., 7 km south-east from the cantonal capital Delémont ( air line) north on a broad saddle of the Mont Raimeux, which forms the southern end of the Dels Berger basin, a broad valley in the Jura folds.

The area of ​​8.4 km ² large municipality area includes the depression in Rebeuvelier. This is flanked on the west by Montchemin (up to 860 m above sea level. M. ), in the north of Rosé ( 800 m above sea level. M. ) and Moton ( 797 m above sea level. M. ). In between, there are two valleys which drain the municipality to the north. In the south, the area of Rebeuvelier enough up the steep slopes of the Jura fold of the Mont Raimeux and reached on the summit of 1,302 m above sea level. To Rebeuvelier include several individual farms. Neighboring communities of Rebeuvelier are Courrendlin, Courroux, Vicques and Vermes in the Canton of Jura and Grandval and Roches in the Canton of Bern.

Population

With 385 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Rebeuvelier one of the smaller municipalities in the canton of Jura. Of the 93.6% inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 5.1 % and 0.6 % Italian-speaking (as of 2000). The population of Rebeuvelier amounted in 1850 to 332 residents in 1900 to 392 inhabitants. Thereafter, the population increased to 1980 due to strong migration by about 45% to 220 from. Since then, significant growth rates were recorded again.

Economy

The community is still predominantly agricultural. In recent decades, at the northern edge of the village, a new residential area has formed. There are few jobs outside the agricultural sector in the village. Many workers ( about 60 %) are therefore commuters and work mainly in the region Delémont.

Traffic

Rebeuvelier located away from major thoroughfares; it is accessed by a cul to the main road from Delémont to Moutier. The village is served by a bus line that runs from Courrendlin after Rebeuvelier, to public transport.

History

First mention is the place in 1148 as Ripoltswilre, and later the French name appears Rebvouilier. These terms can be derived from the Germanic personal name Ripold. As one of the 13 villages of the free reign Delsberg came Rebeuvelier 1271 to Prince-Bishopric of Basel. The parish Rebeuvelier came in the 17th century, depending on surveying, but was 1772 again independently. Between 1793 and 1815 the village belonged to France and was initially part of the département du Mont- Terrible, associated from 1800 with the Department of Haut -Rhin. By the decision of the Congress of Vienna Rebeuvelier came in 1815 to the canton of Bern and on 1 January 1979 at the newly founded Canton Jura.
