The main railway station Recklinghausen is a railway station on the railway line pan - Eickelmann -Hamburg and the starting point of several bus lines Vestische trams in the district of Recklinghausen. It is located northeast of the historic city center of Recklinghausen in North district.
History
The original main railway station was opened in 1870 by the Cologne -Minden Railway Company in connection with the construction of Hamburg- Venlo railway.
During the Second World War, on April 1, 1945 destroyed a heavy bombing attack railway station and tracks extensively. Because today is reminiscent of built next to the station bunker in which the Kunsthalle Recklinghausen was established in 1950.
The outstanding feature of the architecture of the station building with its glass front is the clock tower today. The new bus station was built in 1998. The station itself was located to the renovation of the building, a plaque commemorating the 5000th kilometer electrified the German Federal Railroad. The board has been missing for the completion of work.
East entrance
Since June 2012, there is an additional input to the central station to improve access to the campus Vest and the surrounding schools and training institutions. In addition, the east exit provides a ramp for passengers with reduced mobility and the bus stop located at the eastern entrance was renamed in Recklinghausen Main Station east entrance. The ride will be shortened for connecting passengers.
Railway lines
Recklinghausen Hauptbahnhof is a railway station of the long-distance transport of Deutsche Bahn and is served by the intercity line IC 35 every two hours.
