Red London

Red London is a British Oi! Band from Sunderland.

Band History

The first punk band in Sunderland was The Rebels, which was founded by Gaz Stoker. In 1978, his younger brother Kid Stoker the band The Street Boys, emerged from the 1979 Red London when they found a new singer Patty Smith. As early as 1980, however, was solved again. A demo recording of this time has been lost today. In 1981 it was decided to red london to revive, this time with Gaz Stoker, whose band- The rebels had dissolved.

The band has performed in the UK and was eventually discovered by Attila the Stockbroker and transferred to Razor Records. There, first released in 1983, the Extended Play Sten Guns in Sunderland, followed by their debut album, This Is England. Shortly after it came increasingly to line- up changes. Patty Smith met a friend who urged him to leave the band. Raish Carter was for the 1987 EP on the French label Pride and Passion new singer of the group. Carter previously been the drummer for the group and involved in criminal activities, but drove it briefly and did so already on the next release room for Marty Clark, who is on Outlaws (1989) and Tumbling Dice to hear.

The band signed in 1994 at the German independent label Knock Out Records. There, the album Last Orders Please appeared. Then Patty Smith returned as a regular singer back in the band and it was followed by two more albums Knock out records. Soundtrack of Our Lives which followed so far last album the group. The co-production of Knock Out Records Trash 2001 Records had with Steve Smith, in turn, a new singer. Steve Smith is the younger brother of Patty Smith and also lead singer of the band befriended Red Alert.

Lyrics and music

In particular, the early works of the band were influenced by British soul and reggae, while the later works more on the Oi! and Street Punk were oriented. As sources of inspiration, the band including The Clash, Chelsea, Stiff Little Fingers, Angelic Upstarts, The Ruts, Slade, Faces and The Jam stated. As stated by the band's name can be seen, the band was interested in politics and saw himself as belonging to skinhead band for "Working Class ". So the band played, among others, benefit concerts for the miners during the great strike 1984 /1985. Due to the " Red" clearly left positioned as the color of socialism and anti-fascist set to Red London but not as a political band.
