Reginald Talbot

Sir Reginald Arthur James Talbot ( born July 11, 1841 in London, England; † January 15, 1929 ) was a British Major General, Member of Parliament and Governor of the Australian state of Victoria.

Life

After attending Harrow School Talbot joined the army in 1859 and in 1865 was appointed colonel. In the period from 1869 to 1874 Talbot was Conservative Member of Parliament of the House of Commons. Then he went back again to the army, fought in the Zulu War and in Egypt and took part in the Gordon Relief Expedition in part. From 1889-95 he was military attaché in Paris.

From April 25, 1904 until July 6, 1908, Talbot Governor of Victoria.
