George Rous, 3rd Earl of Stradbroke

George Edward John Mowbray Rous, 3rd Earl of Stradbroke ( born November 19, 1862 in London, United Kingdom, † December 20, 1947 in Henham Hall, Suffolk ) was in the 1920 Governor of Victoria.

Life

After studying at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he graduated in 1890 with the master, he succeeded his father as Earl of Stradbroke after. In 1898 he married Helena Violet Alice Keith Fraser. From 1902 to 1929 he was aide- de-camp of the English monarch. Queen Alexandra took over the sponsorship of his first son. During World War II, he was commander of several artillery brigades.

From 1921 to 1926 Stradbroke was governor of the Australian state of Victoria. He undertook many journeys that took him across the entire Australian continent and even to Tasmania and New Zealand.

Back in England was Stradbroke from 1928 worked as a parliamentary secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to 1929. From 1935 he was Lord Lieutenant of the county of Suffolk. He died in 1947 at the age of 85 years.
