Reinhard Divis

Reinhard Divis ( born July 4, 1975 in Vienna) is an Austrian professional ice hockey goaltender. He was the first Austrian ice hockey player, who played one game in the National Hockey League. Most recently, he was at the Vienna Capitals under contract.

Career

His first club was WAT Stadlau in Vienna. His professional career began at the VEU Feldkirch, with which he en suite (1994-1998) won the Austrian Championship 5 times. In 1998, he won with the VEU Feldkirch also the final of the European Hockey League. After the VEU Feldkirch got in trouble financially, Divis left the club for two seasons and moved to Leksand IF in Sweden.

NHL Entry Draft 2000 Divis was pulled from the St. Louis Blues as the 261, in 2001 he moved to America. In his first season in 2001/ 02 Divis had to prove in the farm team in the AHL Worcester IceCats, but sat in between because of illness of the parent goalkeeper with the St. Louis Blues bench. He came off the bench this season in a game for 25 minutes, during which he got a clean sheet.

2002/ 03 denied Divis 2 games with only one goal, both games ended with a victory of his team. In the 2003 /04 season Divis was already at 13 inserts ( with a total of 29 goals conceded ) under the season and an insert in the playoffs.

In the season 2004/ 05 played " cleaning " because of the NHL lockout when EC VSV in Carinthia, but only got to 29 games, as he drew upon a shoulder injury, which also made its use in the 2005 World Championship in Austria impossible. The EC VSV finished the season in fourth place in the goalkeeper statistics he ended up with 91.96 % held shots in 29 games at third. In the season 2005/ 06 he played as a substitute goalkeeper for the St. Louis Blues again, but was released in between to the farm team in the AHL Peoria Rivermen. Overall Divis stood at 29 NHL games on the ice.

Not least due to family reasons, Divis decided after this season for a return to Austria and signed a two -year contract with the Red Bulls Salzburg.

Divis was also at the Olympics in Nagano in 1998 and Salt Lake City in 2002 for the Austrian national team in goal and took since 1996 with the national team at several A World championships, most recently in 2007.

Reinhard Divis is married and has two children, Dominic and Nicole.

For the 2008/ 09 season he signed with Swedish club Färjestad BK, with whom he won the championship title, but after lack of extension of the contract was without a club.

End of October 2009 signed a new contract with Divis Red Bull Salzburg, where it replaces the goalkeeper Bobby Goepfert. Since the contract expired after the 2010/11 season, he moved within the EBEL to the Vienna Capitals.

For the 100th anniversary of the ÖEHV Divis was elected Austrian goalkeeper century.
