Remain in Light is the fourth studio album by the New York New Wave band Talking Heads. It was published on 8 October 1980 to the label Sire Records. In the U.S. Billboard 200, it peaked at number 19 in the UK album charts, it reached number 21 Remain in Light is considered due to the then unique fusion of pop with world music as one of the most influential albums of the 1980s and thus appeared on the 2003 of Rolling Stone published list of the 500 best albums of all time at number 128

Stylistically considered to Remain in Light moves in the typical for Talking Heads Genre New Wave and post-punk. However, since it earned through the use of African polyrhythms completely new elements in these styles of music, it is often also attributed to the art-punk. Also often radio -like rhythms have been incorporated in the music.

The two singles that were released from the album, in comparison to the album had rather limited success. Once in a Lifetime was released in February 1981 and peaked in the UK Top 40 at least 14th place, but it showed up in the States in 1986 on the Billboard Hot 100, where the single with number 91 reached its peak. The B- side contained Seen and Not Seen. The second single was released in May 1981. It contained a remix by Houses in Motion, on the B - side was The overload. Notable chart success not achieved.
