Remigija NazarovienÄ—

Remigija Nazarovienė (born Sablovskaitė, born June 2, 1967 in Ashgabat, Turkmen SSR ) is a former Lithuanian athlete, who specialized in the heptathlon.

At the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, she took starting for the Soviet Union under her birth name Sablovskaitė in fifth in the heptathlon. In the same year she became Soviet champion.

Since the independence of Lithuania 1990, she was more than a decade of the most outstanding athletes in the country. Overall, it was nine Lithuanian Champion. In addition to three titles in the heptathlon ( 1990, 1992, 2002), she was also in the individual disciplines long jump ( 1995, 1997 ), 100 - meter hurdles ( 1995, 1998 ), shot put (1996) and High Jump (1997) successfully. She also holds the national records in the heptathlon and the 100 - meter hurdles.

At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona Nazarovienė came in fourteenth place in the heptathlon and at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1994 to seventh place in the pentathlon. She was at the Olympics in Atlanta in ten in 1996. The greatest success of her career, she celebrated a year later at the World Athletics Championships in 1997 in Athens. With 6566 points, she won there the bronze medal in the heptathlon behind Sabine Braun ( 6739 points) and Denise Lewis ( 6654 points). They also won in this and the following season when Décastar in Talence.

The European Athletics Championships 1998 in Budapest Nazarovienė missed in fourth with only 16 points behind the bronze medal a medal in the heptathlon just barely. However, at the end of the season they finished third in the IAAF World Combined Events Challenge. It was at the 1999 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Maebashi again Fourth and peaked at the World Athletics Championships in Seville eighth.

Remigija Nazarovienė is 1.80 m and weighed about 70 kg competition times. She was married to the Estonian decathlete Andrei Nazarov. After the end of her active career, she took a coaching job at the Estonian Association of Athletics Federations. Her proteges include Mikk and Kaie Kand Pahapill.
