Founded in 1994 Sandvika Norway Renewable Energy Corporation allmennaksjeselskap headquartered in Oslo, is a public company with approximately 2,500 employees.

The Group (short: REC ASA) is active in all stages of the value chain for photovoltaic modules. These include the production of silicon, the production of wafers, cells and modules based on silicon and project development. REC Silicon, REC Wafer and REC Solar: Accordingly, the REC Group consists of three divisions. The wafer production is virtually CO2-free, by electricity, which is produced by hydropower.

Products

  • In the United States, REC Silicon produces at two locations, Moses Lake and Butte solar silicon. The traditional Siemens reactor process is currently being replaced by the much more energy economical fluidized bed reactor process. With the new method up to 80 % of energy can be saved. According to the company, the company is the largest manufacturer of silicon for the photovoltaic industry.
  • REC Wafer is one of the market leaders in the field of polycrystalline wafers for the solar industry. A total capacity of 1.7 gigawatts produced at the two Norwegian sites Herøya and Glomfjord. In the processing of the wafers almost exclusively silicon division of REC Silicon is used.

Creation and development
