Economy

The decades- long run as a parade Romanian steel plant environment goes back to a foundation of the Austrian locomotive factory, the state railway company. By 1918, however, only seven steam locomotives were manufactured in Resita, a significant locomotive manufacturing began in the 1920s. Resita produced until about 1960 steam locomotives, many of them replicas of German locomotive designs as well as the class 764.4 MÁVAG a modification of the type 70 for forestry railways. This series is interesting in that in recent years came as many copies of this series at museum and tourist railways throughout Europe (including including Serbia, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Great Britain, France and Germany ).

Since 2008, the steel mill is in sole possession of TMK Europe GmbH in Cologne and predominantly produced pipe billets, which are used for the production of seamless pipes.

In 1945, a car with the name Malaxa was built in Resita, named after the Romanian industrialist Nicolae Malaxa. Production had to be soon set up because the plants were transferred to the Soviet Union.

Only in 1988 a tram line was opened mainly from energy saving reasons, which meanders across the valley of the city. In Resita 21 trams of type GT8 drive the company DUEWAG that were taken from Dortmund from 1996.
