Richard Ryder, Baron Ryder of Wensum

Richard Andrew Ryder, Baron Ryder of Wensum in the County of Norfolk OBE PC ( born February 4, 1949) is a British politician of the Conservative Party.

Life

Ryder studied after visiting the Radley College at Magdalene College, University of Cambridge. He was first elected as a candidate of the Conservative Party in the general election on 9 June 1983 as Member of Parliament in the House of Commons and represented in this until 1 May 1997, the newly created constituency of Mid Norfolk. Previously, he had a candidate in the general election in February and October 1974 without success in the constituency Gateshead East.

First, in 1984, he briefly Parliamentary Private Secretary to John Moore, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, as well as between 1984 and 1986 when Foreign Minister Geoffrey Howe. Then he was between 1986 and 1988 as an Assistant Whip Parliamentary Assistant to the CEO of the conservative faction in the lower house.

After he was then Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, he was in July 1989, Agriculture Secretary to the Treasury (Economic Secretary to the Treasury ), and then from July to November 1990, a short time Paymaster General. Then he was between November 1990 and July 1995 as a successor to Timothy Renton Parliamentary Secretary and Parliamentary General Manager ( Chief Whip ) the fraction of the Conservative Party in the House of Commons.

After he retired from the House of Commons in 1997, he was raised as Baron Ryder of Wensum in the County of Norfolk in the peerage, and since heard at the House of Lords as a member. Baron Ryder was between 2002 and 2004 only and then Deputy Chairman from 28 January to 17 May 2004, Executive Chairman of the BBC Board of Governors. He is currently one of the directors of the football club Ipswich Town, who currently plays in the second-rate Football League Championship.
