Rob Brown (saxophonist)

Robert " Rob" Brown ( born February 27, 1962 in Hampton, Virginia) is an American alto saxophonist of free jazz.

Life and work

Rob Brown came in 1984 to New York and began his career under the influence of the music of Albert Ayler and Jimmy Lyons and took over their Überblas techniques; He then worked in the late 1980s with Matthew Shipp, Whit Dickey and William Parker ( Points, 1990). In 1989, he took for Silkheart Records first album under his own name, Breath Rhyme, with William Parker and Dennis Charles; In 1992 he was on Riti Records, the trio album Youniverse with Joe Morris and Whit Dickey.
