Robert Lorenzo Brazile, Jr. ( born February 7, 1953 in Mobile, Alabama, United States), nicknamed Mr. Versatile or Dr. Doom, is a former American professional American football player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League ( NFL) Houston Oilers in the.

Playing career

College career

Robert Brazile visited in his home town high school, where he played football as a tight end. In 1971 he was chosen the game after high school All- Star Game from Alabama to the Most Valuable Player (MVP). From 1971 he studied at Jackson State University, where he played along with running back Walter Payton and offensive tackle Jackie Slater for the Jackson State Tigers Football. Brazile was initially set up as a tight end but switched in the second year to the position of linebackers. In the years 1972 and 1973 he won with his team the championship in the Southwestern Athletic Conference ( SWAC ). In 1974, he scored the league record with nine interceptions. He was elected to the selection of the SWAC and All American. Professional career

Brazile was drafted by the Houston Oilers in 1975 in the first round in sixth place. Already in his rookie season, he was used by coach Bum Phillips as a starter. Because of his athletic achievements, he was elected this season for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. In 1978, he was able to move his team to ten wins from 16 games in the playoffs.
