Rockwood is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. In 2000 Rockwood 3442 citizens.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, Rockwood has an area of 7.0 km ², all of which related to land. Rockwood is located north of the Huron River, meandering from the northwest to the southeast, the south-western city limits and also forms the border with Monroe County. However, the urban area is drained by the Silver Creek and the Smith Creek.

Through the urban area leads to Interstate 75, the day the Canadian National Railway Detroit and Toledo belonging Shoreline Railroad and parallel to a line from Conrail

National Register of Historic Places

Detroit River Light Station is located in the Lake Erie and is added to the National Register Rockwood.

At the time of the census of 2000, there were Rockwood 3442 people. The population density was 492.2 people per km ². There were 1353 housing units at an average 193.5 per km ². The population Rockwood consisted of 95.64 % White, 0.64 % African American, 0.99% Native American, 0.61 % Asian, 0 % Pacific Islander, 0.96 % reported from other races, and 1.16 % from two or more races. 2.53 % of the population to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Residents of Rockwood distributed to 1318 households out of which 33.4 % were living in children under 18 years. 55.8 % married couples living together, 10.2 % had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5 % were non-families. 24.2% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 8.2 % of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size is 3.10 people.
