Rodrigo Laviņš

Rodrigo Laviņš ( born August 3, 1974 in Riga, Latvian SSR) is a Latvian ice hockey player who stands since 2008 at Dinamo Riga in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Rodrigo Laviņš comes from the offspring of HK Pārdaugava Riga. In 1994 he went to North America, first played in the East Coast Hockey League for the Raleigh IceCaps and Tallahassee Tiger Sharks. In addition, he completed a few games in the Colonial Hockey League for the Muskegon Fury. During the 1997/98 season he went for both Las Vegas Thunder of the International Hockey League, as well as for the Tacoma Sabercats in the West Coast Hockey League on the ice.

1998 Laviņš returned back to Europe and played in the next two years playing for teams from Sweden and Finland: Jokerit Helsinki, AIK Solna, HPK Hämeenlinna and Tampere Ilves. Before the season 2000 /01 he was taken from the Augsburg Panthers under contract, for which he completed 46 games in the DEL. He then moved to the first Russian league, the Super League to Molot Perm - Prikamye, for which he scored ten points scorer in 43 games. The 2002/ 03 spent Laviņš at HK Dynamo Moscow, for its second team he first ran aground in the Perwaja league. Middle of the season he was called into the first team and reached the Super League play-offs. After this success Laviņš returned to his home country and was taken from HK Riga 2000 under contract. With his new team, he was Latvian champion in 2004 and 2005.

2005 Laviņš was taken from the Swedish first division Brynäs IF under contract, contested for the 99 games in the Elitserien. In the summer of 2007, he joined Metallurg Novokuznetsk, but returned to 15 appearances in the Super League and League Perwaja back to Sweden, where he received a contract with Södertälje SK. Since 2008 Laviņš is the newly formed KHL Dinamo Riga subscribers under contract. In the season 2008/ 09 he was captain of Dinamo Riga.
