Ronalds Ķēniņš

Ronalds Ķēniņš (* February 28, 1991 in Riga) is a Latvian ice hockey player standing since 2011 with the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League A under contract.

Career

Ronalds Ķēniņš began his career as a hockey player in the junior department of the HK Liepaja Metalurgs in which he was active until 2007. He then spent a year at the Under-17 Junior of the EHC Oberthurgau from Switzerland. From 2008 to 2011 played the winger for the GCK Lions in the National League B, while he competed in parallel for the U20 juniors of the club in the top Swiss U20 Junior division. In the season 2011/12 Ķēniņš made ​​his debut for the ZSC Lions in the National League A. With his team, he immediately won the Swiss Championship. As he runs with a Swiss player's license, it does not fall there by the Aliens quota.

In July 2013 he signed a two -year contract with the Vancouver Canucks for the seasons 2013/14 and 2014 /15 campaign. The Canucks borrow Kenins in the first year of the ZSC Lions.

Internationally

For Latvia Ķēniņš took part in the junior level at the U18 World Junior Championships Division I 2008 and 2009 and the U20 Junior World Cup in 2010 and the U20 Junior World Championship Division I 2011. In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the World Championships in 2011 and 2012.
