Ryan Shannon
Ryan Patrick Shannon ( born March 2, 1983 in Darien, Connecticut ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since May 2012 at the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League A under contract.
Career
The 1.75 m wide center began his career in the team of Boston College in the league operation of the National Collegiate Athletic Association before he was committed as a free agent by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on 28 November 2005.
At the end of his college years Shannon completed his first games as a professional at the former farm team the Ducks, the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. From the season 2005/ 06 he was then for the Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League on the ice during the season 2006/ 07 he was appointed to the NHL squad the Ducks, for which he on 6 October 2006 against the Los Angeles Kings played his first game. Against the Kings, he barely two weeks later also scored his first goal and his first assist in the highest North American professional league. At the end of the season he won with the Ducks the Stanley Cup and then moved to the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks, however, Shannon was only one season, since he was released one month before the start of the 2008/09 season for Lawrence Nycholat to the Ottawa Senators.
On July 7, 2011 Shannon signed a contract for one year with the Tampa Bay Lightning. May 21, 2012 Ryan Shannon has been committed by the ZSC Lions for three years.
