Roset-Fluans

Roset - Fluans is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Roset - Fluans is on 235 m, about 17 km southwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located on the western edge of the Jura, a slightly elevated position on the plateau south of the Doubstals, the addition occurs here in the Saône plain.

The area of ​​8.28 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Doubstals. In the north and east, the border is always along the Doubs, which here flows in a large arc around the height of Château le Bois. The Talniederung is usually about 1 km wide. From the river, the municipality's area extends southward over the flat alluvial plain and a 20 m high rock wall on the adjacent plateau, which averages to 250 m. Neighboring communities of Roset - Fluans are Saint -Vit and Routelle in the north, Osselle in the east, Villars -Saint -Georges and Courtefontaine in the south and Salans in the West.

History

Since the beginning of the 13th century the Castle of Roset is on record. It was destroyed in 1305 by troops of Countess Mahaut of Artois, and fell into the following period. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. To territorial changes occurred in the early 19th century: In 1822, merged with Fluans Roset to double municipality Roset - Fluans. 1825 La Corne de Chaux and Château- le- Bois were incorporated. The latter was abandoned in the subsequent period, and the former settlement site is now overgrown by forest.
