Rosières-sur-Mance

Rosières- sur -Mance is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Rosières- sur -Mance is located at an altitude of 229 m above sea level, 8 km west of Jussey and about 36 km northwest of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the extreme northwest of the department, in a niche on the southern edge of the valley of Mance, opposite Vernois -sur -Mance, on the eastern slopes of the plateau of Langres.

The area of ​​5.22 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plateau of Langres west of the upper Saônetals. The northern boundary runs mostly along the Mance, which here flows through a roughly two kilometers wide Alluvialniederung to the east. The flood plain is on average 225 m and is used mainly for agricultural purposes. From the river, the municipality's area extends southward over the flood plain and a 60 to 100 m high, mostly wooded, steep slope down to the adjacent plateau, which reaches an average height of 290 m. The slope is divided by several wells, which open to the Valley of Mance, including the little valley of the Ruisseau des Roises. With 325 m is reached on the plateau east of the village is the highest elevation of Rosières- sur -Mance. In geological- tectonic respect, the plateau consists of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited on the merits during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ).

History

In the Middle Ages Rosières belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had occupied the monastery Cherlieu together with a secular rulers. In 1736 the inhabitants were granted certain liberties. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. With the opening of the railway line from Vesoul to Langres, the place was in 1858 connected to the French railroad network. Today Rosières- sur -Mance is a member of the 17 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Pays Jusséen.

Attractions

The Church of Rosières- sur -Mance was newly built in 1773 and is oriented as one of the few churches in France to the north. It has a tower in the Imperial style, a main altar and paintings from the 18th century and a pulpit in the Louis XVI style. On the road to Jussey is a Calvaire from the 18th century. Additional attractions include a paved courtyard and a large round fountain in the village square.

Population

With 74 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Rosières- sur -Mance is one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1896 422 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1990s.

Economy and infrastructure

Rosières- sur -Mance was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes. The main access is from the secondary road that leads from Jussey after Vitrey -sur -Mance. Another road connection with Vernois -sur -Mance. The station has now been decommissioned.
