Rovinka

Rovinka (from 1927 to 1948 Slovak " cela " - 1948-1960 " Štefánikovce "; German Walter village, Hungarian Csölle ) is a municipality in Bratislavský kraj in the Danube plain, on the main road between Bratislava (15 km), Šamorín (10 miles) and Komárno (80 km).

It was first mentioned in 1235 and later developed in two villages - Unterwaltersdorf and Oberwaltersdorf, which were united in 1913. Until shortly after the Second World War there were in the village, a majority of German and Hungarian inhabitants. These were distributed on the basis of the Beneš decrees after the Second World War. 2001 lived in the village of 1274 inhabitants, of which 88.5 % Slovaks and 7.5% Magyars. The name was changed to the name Štefánikovce 1948 goes to the Czechoslovak politician Milan Rastislav Stefanik back, renamed in 1960 in turn was traced back to a citizen proposal and means as much as "straight".
