Ruth Ziesak

Ruth Ziesak ( born February 9, 1963 in Hofheim am Taunus ) is a German opera and lieder singer (soprano ).

Life and work

Ruth Ziesak studied in Frankfurt am Main with Elsa Cavelti and started her career in 1988 at the Stadttheater Heidelberg and at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf and Duisburg. Ziesak achieved some success in vocal competitions - including first prizes at the German Music Competition and the Competition 's-Hertogenbosch.

Your path led through the stages of Munich, Stuttgart, Berlin and Dresden to Milan, Florence, Vienna, Paris, London and New York, where she impressed the lyric. Among her favorite roles include Pamina ( The Magic Flute ), Annie ( Der Freischütz }, Marcellina ( Fidelio ), Ilia ( Idomeneo ) and Sophie ( Der Rosenkavalier ). As Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro debuted the Ziesak at the Glyndebourne Festival and in Zurich, as Donna Anna ( Don Giovanni) in concert at the Herrenchiemsee Festival.

The artist is also in demand as a concert singer and often takes solo parts in fairs and Oratien - such as Bach's St. John Passion, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, Brahms ' German Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Mendelssohn's Elijah and his praise - Symphony and Schmidt's book with seven seals. Ziesak occurred on concert stages in Paris, Milan, Vienna, Munich, Leipzig, Los Angeles, Amsterdam and London and with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra collaborated. They also often sings in baroque music concerts of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Concerto Köln or of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. Ruth Ziesak has under direction of renowned conductors - sung - as Herbert Blomstedt, Ivor Bolton, Riccardo Chailly, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Manfred Honeck, Daniele Gatti, Riccardo Muti, Kent Nagano, Christoph Prégardien, Sir Georg Solti and Lothar Zagrosek.

Ziesak was a guest at the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, the Schleswig -Holstein Music Festival and the BBC Proms. There are numerous recordings, including opera arias by Mozart, Mahler and Liszt songs, canzonettas of Haydn.

As a recitalist she has worked with the pianist Gerold Huber and András Schiff, with whom she has performed in Vienna, Berlin, Essen, Leipzig and London, as well as the Kissinger Summer and the Heidelberger Frühling. They also sang together with the Merel Quartet, the Vienna Piano Trio and the Trio Wanderer.

Ziesak lives in Heidelberg and taught singing at the Hochschule für Musik Saar.
