Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar ( Marathi: सचिन तेंडुलकर, Sacin Tendulkar, born 24 April 1973 in Mumbai, India) is an Indian cricketer. Sachin Tendulkar is considered one of the best batsmen of all time. 1997 Sachin Tendulkar was voted one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year. As a bowler Tendulkar is one of the leg spinners.

Career

Sachin Tendulkar has taken part so far for India in 198 Tests and has achieved 15 470 Runs ( 55.44 runs per wicket ). His Test debut, he celebrated at the age of 16 years, in November 1989 against Pakistan in Karachi. In 2008, Sachin Tendulkar broke the record for most runs scored in Test cricket, Brian Lara had previously held. He was also the first to score more than 12,000 runs in Test cricket. On December 18, 1989 Sachin Tendulkar completed his first encounter in the One- Day International Cricket (ODI ) against Pakistan. So far, he has played a total of 463 ODIs for India and has achieved 18 426 runs ( 44.83 runs per wicket ). He is a record holder in the category of total added runs in ODIs. He is also the record holder for the number of Century's achieved in tests as well as in ODIs. He was the first cricketer ever, the case of international matches (Tests and ODIs together) could achieve 100 Century's ( 100-point innings ). This mark he reached in 2012.

With the Indian team Tendulkar took so far to six Cricket World Cups (1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011). In 2003 he reached the final with his team and was voted the best player of the tournament. Sachin won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for most runs scored in World Cups. He has appeared in 36 matches in total 1796 runs scored ( 57.93 runs per wicket ). On 24 February 2010 succeeded Tendulkar became the first player to reach 200 runs in an ODI innings. He reached exactly 200 * (* = not out) against South Africa and cracked so that the by Saeed Anwar ( Pakistan) ( 194) and Charles Coventry ( Zimbabwe) (194 *) held record. On March 16, 2012 during a game against the Bangladeshi national team, he scored his 100th Century in an international match ( success in Test cricket and One- Day International together) - and thus reached the first player ever to this brand.

1998 Sachin Tendulkar was awarded the highest Indian government award for athletes, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna. In 2008 he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan. In 2012 he became a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian parliament after being nominated by the State President Pratibha Patil. In 2014 he was awarded the Bharat Ratna.

Sachin Tendulkar is married to a doctor and has two children.
