Sacrifice is the twelfth studio album by the British heavy metal band Motörhead. It was the last album by the band with the second guitarist Würzel.

Formation

After completing the tour for the previous album Bastards Motörhead left the label ZYX Music and switched to CBH, the record label of their German promoter Rainer Hansel. For North America, the band had with the label change no more distribution partners. This Sacrifice was there initially available only as an import until the independent label CMC took over the distribution of the finished album for North America and the album released there on 11 July 1995.

The recordings were produced by Howard Benson. Because he worked as A & R for Giant Records at the same time, much of the album production of sound engineer Ryan mandrel according to instructions from Benson was done. During the studio sessions, problems with guitarist Würzel recorded from, who left the band shortly after the album's release. The band stood for ten studio recordings days. At the end of the booked recording time Lemmy Kilmister had a cold, but a re-recording the vocal tracks was no longer possible. For this reason, Kilmister was not satisfied with the vocals on some tracks.
