Saint- Hubert ( Walloon: Sint- Houbert ) is a 5647 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012) scoring municipality in the Belgian province of Luxembourg and presents itself as " European capital of hunting and nature."

Is named the community after Saint Hubert of Liege, whose bones were 825 transferred from Liege to Andagium, being the subsequent Andain and today Saint- Hubert.

Geography

Saint- Hubert is located in the wooded Ardennes on a tributary of the Lomme. Where this is crossed down the valley from the road to Libin, the station Poix -St- Hubert is located on the railway line Namur - Luxembourg. The highest point of the municipality and the Western Ardennes is 589.5 meters above sea level and is located about 4 kilometers east of Saint- Hubert.

Worth seeing

The gothic Basilica of St Peter and Paul with its baroque facade overlooks the town and is worth seeing. In this church is, inter alia, the book of Hubertus, patron saint of hunters, stored, invoked against rabies. For the treatment of rabies Hubertus key was used. A special feature of the basilica can be observed on the day of the solstice. On this day falls just after 6 clock a ray of sunshine on the third monk chair.

Next to the basilica and the former Abbey of Saint -Hubert is well worth seeing.

Seven kilometers west of the city center, the blast furnace and open-air museum Fourneau Saint Michel is the Belgian province of Luxembourg.
