Salzburger Landestheater

The Salzburg State Theater is a theater in Salzburg, Austria with his own ensembles for drama, ballet and musical theater (opera, operetta, musical ). The building with 707 seats is used in the summer of the Salzburg Festival for plays as well as occasionally for opera productions.

The house 60988! Stands under monument protection and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Centre of Salzburg.

History

1775 Prince Archbishop Hieronymus Colloredo, despite the fierce resistance of the Salzburg Mayor Weiser, (now Makart Square ) for the purpose of grinding the ever-popular ball playing by Prince Archbishop Paris Lodron built in 1625 Ballhaus at Hannibal Square and build a Fürsterzbischöfliches Court Theatre. At the time, it was right on the waterfront of the River Salzach. It was opened by the favor of the prince of Christian Heinrich Schmid. The lodges theater soon proved to be too small and was rebuilt in 1788.

From 1803 on, the house was called the Electoral Theater, 1808 kk National Theatre. 1809 Salzburg came briefly under French administration and was founded in 1810 Bavarian province, the theater was at the time called the Royal National Theatre. 1892 came the old theater in the possession of the City Magistrates and was demolished due to safety deficiencies. The Vienna office Fellner & Helmer built 1892-1893 in neo-Baroque style a new house ( unsightly from the outside ), which was opened by vormittägiger circuit -breaking ceremony on the evening of October 1, 1893, as a new city theater in the presence of Archduke Ludwig Viktor. At the opening of the overture to Mozart's opera La Clemenza di Tito was played, followed by a prologue by Josef Kollmenn and Ludwig Fulda's drama " The Talisman ". In 1924, the house was renovated from 1938 to 1939 by Josef Holzinger and Paul Geppert the Younger rebuilt. On August 7, 1939, the stage was ( at the Salzburg Festival ) with Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio reopened (Conductor: Karl Böhm ). [Note 2] Since 1940, the theater is called the State Theatre. In the years 2003 and 2004, the theater was extensively renovated.

Since 2010, the Salzburg local theater has a close cooperation with the Salzburg Marionette Theatre. In addition to joint new productions ( The Little Prince, The Ring of the Nibelung ), the ensemble plays the State Theatre in the hall of puppet theater called Stage 24 in the winter months in their own new productions. In addition, the Great Festival Hall and the House for Mozart in the festival district are permanent venues of the Salzburg State Theater.

On 1 October 2013, the house celebrated its 120th anniversary with a close artistic style similar to the musical program of the opening ceremony of 1893 Gala. The keynote address was given Hellmuth Matiasek, 1962-1964 Director of the Salzburg State Theater.
