Geography

Salzmünde is located about seven kilometers west of Halle ( Saale). The Salza flows into the Saale. With an average annual rainfall of 436 mm Salzmünde is one of the driest places in Germany.

History

Salzmünde is the eponymous locality of the salt mouths group of Neolithic Funnel Beaker culture.
