San Diego Gulls (1966–74)

The San Diego Gulls were an American ice hockey team from San Diego, California. She played from 1966 to 1974 in the Western Hockey League. Their home games they wore in the San Diego Sports Arena from.

History

The San Diego Gulls were established in 1966 as a franchise of the Western Hockey League in which they never went beyond the third place they occupied in six of eight seasons. In the first six years from 1966 to 1972 the team of Max McNab was trained before Jack Evans took over the position as head coach in the last two seasons. After the WHL was dissolved in 1974 and the New Jersey Knights were resettled from the rival World Hockey Association to San Diego, where they participated under the name of San Diego Mariners game on operation of the WHA, the leaders dissolved the franchise.

In the following years other teams from the International Hockey League, ECHL and a U.S. junior league named after the team.
