Santa María Department, Catamarca

The department of Santa María is located in the northeast of the province of Catamarca in northwestern Argentina and is one of the 16 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the province of Salta, on the east by the province of Tucumán, in the south by the Departamento Andalgalá and to the west by the department of Belén.

The capital of the department is Santa María del Yocavil.
