Sarsina

Sarsina is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3564 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Forlì -Cesena in the Emilia- Romagna. The municipality is situated approximately 35.5 kilometers south-southeast of Forlì and approximately 25.5 kilometers south-southwest of Cesena on Savio.

History

The story begins with a settlement Sarsinas the Umbrians on Savio in the fourth century BC. With the influence of Rome, the city was 266 BC, an ally of the city on the Tiber. Due to the stationing of troops won the city when Sassina designated in importance until it was probably destroyed at the end of the third century after Christ by the barbarians. The first bishop of the city, Vizinius, was also named to the end of the third century. The diocese continued to exist until 1986. Then it was merged with the diocese of Cesena to the diocese of Cesena Sarsina.
