History
The establishment of the first castle Scheyern is in the dark. After Aventine she was built in the year 508 as a seat of power. Recent research (Karl Bosl ) believed that the Bavarian Palatinate Count Arnulf II gave the castle to 940 built. His descendants, the Skiren or Schyren, later called themselves Counts of Scheyern ( comes de Skyrum ) and are the origin of Wittelsbach. Otto I of Scheyern lived around 1014 at the castle, Otto II of Scheyern until about 1078, Eckhard I. of Scheyern until about 1091.
According to tradition, to have taken place in the castle chapel around the year 995/996, the engagement or marriage of Stephen of Hungary and Princess Gisela of Bavaria.
In 1119 the Count Otto V of Scheyern moved as Count of Wittelsbach in the castle of Wittelsbach one, converted his now unused castle in Scheyern in the monastery Scheyern as his home monastery with grave laying around and gave it to the Benedictines from St. Peter Berg ( today a district of the community dirt road ). This settled on the former castle hill ( to about 1800 under the name " Hag " ) is a working site that sprang up around 1400 from the two " Huben " Hag. The abbey was a center in the Middle Ages the art of writing and illumination. The place belonged to the closed Hofmark Scheyern Scheyern monastery. The house monastery of the Wittelsbach was secularized in 1803. 1838, King Ludwig I Scheyern first built as a Benedictine priory again, since 1843 Scheyern is again Abbey.

Policy
