The community association Schweich on the Roman wine road located northeast of Trier on the Roman wine road and has about 26,000 inhabitants. To the municipality include the city Schweich on the Moselle and the 18 independent local churches Bekond, Detzem, Ensch, fur, pine, characteristic, Klüsserath, Köwerich, Leiwen, lunge, Longuich, Mehring, Naurath, Pölich, Riol, Schleich, Thörnich turn home.

Geography
The altitude of the municipality extends from 114 meters above mean sea level on the Moselle Trittenheim up to 493 meters above mean sea level at New Mehring.

History
The community association Schweich was created by the State Law amending municipal constitutional requirements and to prepare for the reorganization of the municipalities of 16 July 1968, which determined the transformation of existing offices to federation communities. The community association Klüsserath was dissolved in the course of conducted by the Land Rheinland-Pfalz territorial reform 1969/1970 and the communities Klüsserath, Leiwen, Köwerich, Detzem, Thörnich, Ensch, Schleich, Pölich and Bekond came to the municipality Schweich. The officially awarded additional title to the Roman wine road bears the municipality since 1 January 1989. On 1 January 2012, the local church Trittenheim was incorporated into the municipality, it previously belonged to the municipality Neumagen -Dhron in the district Bernkastel -Wittlich.

The association council Schweich consists of 36 volunteer council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the full-time mayor as chairman.

Economy
Between pines, Hetzerath and Bekond is the launched in 1992 Trier Region Industrial Park. There, some 120 companies have settled with about 2200 jobs. The size of the area is about 2.4 square kilometers. Also, viticulture and tourism in the municipality of great economic importance.
Solar, wind and hydroelectric power are used extensively in the municipality. The maximum power of installed photovoltaic systems (power generation by direct sunlight) was approximately 27 MW in 2010. The performance of the wind turbines was about 20 megawatts in 2010.
A project in the municipality is the construction of the pumped storage power plant on the Rio districts Schweich / lunge / Mehring ( on Hummelberg ) and Ensch ( the Kautenbachtal ) by Stadtwerke Trier with a planned capacity of 300 megawatts.
Traffic
The A1 motorway runs through the territory of the municipality and crossed the Moselle in Schweich. At the motorway Moseltal at Longuich the A branches from 602 to Trier. Take the A 64 is a connection to Luxembourg. The B 53 leads along the Moselle from Trier Schweich and Mehring to Bernkastel -Kues and Alf.
The municipality is also connected to the railway Trier -Koblenz. There are railway stations in Schweich and pines. Law of the Moselle was the Moselbahn ( small train ), on the route today runs a part of the Moselle cycle path. The bike path leads Wittlicher Valley of Schweich by the sink to Wittlich Wittlich and the bike path runs along the Salm- Salm of Klüsserath Dreis.
In Scots pine is an airfield is named Trier- pines. For the people - cruise on the Moselle there are moorings in Schweich, Mehring, Klüsserath, Leiwen turn home.
