Sergi Escobar
Sergi Escobar Roure i ( born September 22, 1974 in Lleida ) is a Spanish track and road racing cyclist.
Sports career
Sergi Escobar belongs since 2003 to the world's best endurance riders on the track. In 2003, he won his first bronze medal in the individual pursuit at the UCI Track World Championships 2003. The following year he became world champion in the same discipline. In the team pursuit he finished third with Carlos Torrent, Carlos Castano and Asier Maeztu. At the Olympic Games in Athens in the same year he secured bronze in the individual pursuit and with the same team as at the World Championships in the Team Pursuit. In the road race Clasica de Almeria he took second place. In addition, he again won silver in the individual pursuit at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup. 2006 Escobar decided the Rating Vuelta a Madrid for themselves. The following year, he won at Track World Championships in Palma de Mallorca a bronze medal in the pursuit
By 2013, Escobar won nine Spanish league title in the pursuit of disciplines as well as in a two - team and in the points race.
