Shōhei Tochimoto

Shohei Tochimoto (Japanese栃 本 翔 平, Tochimoto Shohei; born December 21, 1989 in Sapporo ) is a Japanese ski jumper.

Career

Tochimoto belongs since 2008 to the team " Megmilk Snow Brand Ski Team " of the dairy Yukijirushi Nyūgyō. Previously, he jumped for the Hokkaido - Shoshi Gakuen High School (北海道 尚志 学园 高校, Hokkaido Shoshi Gakuen Koko ). His international debut was at FIS Jumping in Yamagata in March 2004 at the age of only 15 years. A year later he jumped again from FIS competitions in his home and was able to convince with fourth place, so that he was shortly thereafter nominated for the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2005 in Rovaniemi and there next to the eighth place in the team for the 32nd reached place in individual competition. After two good results in the FIS Cup earlier in the season 2005/ 06 he started shortly afterwards in St. Moritz the first time in Ski Jumping Continental Cup, winning the 27th place in his first points. On 21 January 2006, he made ​​his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup and missed here in Sapporo with the 32nd rank just under the points. In the following Nordic Junior World Ski Championships - 2006 in Kranj he won the bronze medal with the team. In the individual competition he finished an excellent fifth place.

In the 46th Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo 2007 he won together with his teammates Takanobu Okabe, Daiki Ito and Noriaki Kasai the bronze medal in the team competition on the large hill. This success he achieved again at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in the same team's formation. In the individual competition on the large hill in the World Championship Tochimoto reached the 16th place. At the World Cup competition on November 28, 2009 in Kuusamo, he reached sixth place with his previous best individual placing in the World Cup.

At the Olympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver Tochimoto reached in jumping on the normal hill in 37th place and thus left already after the first passage.

After the Olympics Tochimoto launched further in the World Cup. With the team he reached there in the team jumping from Lahti sixth place. Once until season's end, he reached no further points more in the individual World Cup, he finished the season in 32nd place overall. In Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2010, he started with a 12th place in Hinterzarten, but was unable to repeat this placement in the following jumping. Only in the Polish Wisła Malinka on and in Hakuba on the Hakuba ski jumps again get him top rankings so that he finished 13th place overall at the end.

In the 2010/11 season Tochimoto started with a third place in the Team World Cup in Kuusamo, before he reached number 19 a day later in an individual. In the course of the season he surprise with several top places in the qualifying jumping, so among other things, with a second place on the Okurayama -Hill in Sapporo. In the competitions he never was able to confirm these services. While he landed well inside the points, but in no jumping in the top ten.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 Tochimoto occurred exclusively in the individual from the normal hill and reached the rank 31. The Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2011 was disappointing for him.
