This in turn was destroyed by fire in 1964, but in 2005 finally removed to allow the construction of the station Shoreditch High Street.

Future

A station on the Central Line is up for debate, especially since the U -Bahn line runs pretty much under the station. In addition, the Central Junction / ELL located approximately in the middle between the stations Liverpool Street and Bethnal Green - this gap is 2 kilometers one of the largest between two stations in the network of the London Underground.

The plan of a Umsteigeknotens here has existed since 1988, when the first plans for expansion of the East London Line became public. However, Transport for London distanced from the plans, due to momentous operation delays the dense schedule in the case of a building. However, they pledged to the construction of the railway Chelsea - Hackney, which would take over the Epping branch of the Central Line and thus create capacity on the line, a building will again envisaged.
