Geography

Geographical location

The community lies in the Westerwald east of Koblenz on the edge of the Park Nassau. The village is dominated by agriculture and commuters to the nearby regional center of Koblenz.

History

Simmering was first mentioned in documents as Seven Burnen in 1198. Until the early 19th century it belonged to the Electorate of Trier, Office Ehrenbreitstein. By Reichsdeputationshauptschluss simmering reached with the Office Ehrenbreitstein 1803 Principality of Nassau -Weilburg and from 1806 to the Duchy of Nassau and the Nassau Office Montabaur 1816 allocated. 1866 was followed by the transition to the Kingdom of Prussia (from 1867 in Unterwesterwald circle). Simmering belongs since 1946 to the state of Rhineland -Palatinate and since 1974 the newly formed Westerwald region.

The Coat of Arms description is: The pile shaft with the seven wave has battlements on the place name simmering down, whose original name can be interpreted as Seven Burnen " seven springs, wells, water tanks ". The red bars cross refers to its affiliation Simmern to the electorate of Trier until 1803 and the golden lion in blue similarly to the Duchy of Nassau from 1806 to 1866.

There are three playing music clubs in the city: the glee club Apollonia, founded in 1962, the church choir of St. Roch and the Musikverein, which has existed since 1930.
