Untershausen

Unterhausen is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Montabaur.

Geographical location

The community lies in the Westerwald south of Montabaur Nassau nature park.

History

Unterhausen was first mentioned in documents as Bungelshausen in 1220.

Coat of arms

The Coat of Arms description is: The two red roses with green sepals and silver slugs point in the Isenburg colors on the first documentary mention back. In the colors of Law and wisdom the roses remember but also as a sign of the jurisdiction where the old isenburgische Hofgericht. The silver roof with its distinctive roof turret is in the red peak for the old bakehouse of Unterhausen. The trifoliate Buchenzweig stands with his green tincture for the forest and the district Unterhausen.
