Sławomir Szmal ( born October 2, 1978 in Strzelce, Poland) is a Polish handball goalkeeper who plays for the Polish first division Vive Kielce. He is also Keeper of the Polish national handball team. In 236 international appearances for Poland, he scored two goals (as of: January 10, 2013). Szmal 94 kg at 186 cm body length. He is married to Aneta, who also plays handball. It is at the gate at the SG Kronau / Östringen.

Szmal has German grandparents who are from the region of Opole. His uncle Andreas Mientus, who played in the TV hut mountain, was a Polish international goalkeeper.

His nickname is " Sławek ". The nickname " Kasa " is Polish and is colloquially called money, which in turn is related to Szmal another colloquial term for money.

He was awarded on 2 February 2007 with the Golden Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland.

On 26 May 2010 he was selected by the IHF World Handball Player of the 2009 season.
